Today may really be my birthday. I was born at home around midnight, so even my mom doesn't know when my real birthday is. She knew she was going into labor so she called my dad at work to come get her and take her to the hospital, but he was never given the message so he never came. A while later she called an ambulance which also didn't come. She finally gave birth to me, on the couch by herself. Then she picked me up, still attached, walked over to the phone and call the fire department. Finally someone came to her assistance. The arrived and cut the cord, delivered the afterbirth, got us cleaned up, etc, and took us to the hospital. We were officially checked into the hospital at 1:20. My birth certificate says I was born at 1:20, August 1st, so that is when I we celebrate. I've been working my mom for the 2 birthdays = double presents for years, but so far no success.

One of the Design Teams I applied for made their announcement - I did not make the team but I am going to be the Guest Designer for October. This is my first experience on a DT in any capacity so I am looking forward to it.
Ethan gave me a great birthday present early! A DVD player for my scrapbooking area! It's the really small, simple kind, but great for watching movies while I scrap. Right now I am working on Disc 1 of the North and South series. Now he can also come down and watch a DVD with me while I scrap! What a guy!

All of a sudden I feel the need to be recognized as a scrapbooker. I mailed my Memory Makers Masters contest entry this week, and in the past 2 weeks I've applied to be on several Design Teams. I don't know if any of these will pan out, but I definitely felt that the MMM contest helped me stretch a little bit to do some extra good pages. I really love scrapbooking because I love to look at photos of people I love, and because I love the creative outlet, but it would be nice to get some recognition too!

somewhat back to normal

As much fun as Esme and I had doing VBS, I am so glad this week we'll be getting back into our normal summer routine. Rushing out the door first thing in the morning seemed to make for longer days. This week we'll be back to the beach, Six Flags, and to see Liam and Grace, but we'll be able to go at our pace. I feel so lucky to have summers off.

Finally! We got our first photos of just Dylan, Esme, and Jera together today. It was so nice to see everyone at the family reunion today. I'm so glad this has become a yearly tradition so we get a chance to catch up and stay in contact with everyone.Posted by Picasa

We had a nice time at Sarah and Matt's wedding on Saturday. Someone was kind enough to snap a family photo while we were there.  Posted by Picasa

Esme and and I attended Vacation Bible School this week. I taught third and fourth grade and Esme went to the nursery. Shirley, the teacher in her room was wonderful and did all kinds of activities with her and the other 2 year old there. Esme had a wonderful time. She was very proud of her projects and talked about going to see Shirley and the kids every day.  Posted by Picasa

We had a great time at Vicki's party!

Vicki threw an wonderful party on Sunday! As usual, Vicki went all out. She had a huge spread of food (plus my Aunt brought a yummy potato torilla dish) and everything was decorated in red, white, and blue. My mom, my aunt, Dylan, Jera, and their parents were all there which of course always adds to the fun! We played cribbage, swam in the pool, at corn on the cob, played croquet, watched the fireworks, sat by the fire, made s'mores, etc. We were all tuckered out by the end of the day but we were so glad we went. Vicki is a wonderful hostess - she really makes everyone feel welcome and goes out of the way to make sure every single person has a good time.
