a nice, relaxing day together

This morning we woke and went to breakfast at Friendly's with Roxanne and Charles. We promised Roxanne that she could order cereal and it turned out they don't carry it anymore, and the poor girl had to have watermelon.

After they left Ethan, Esme, Kyle and I headed down to the flea market. This was Donna's first week having her very own booth. It looked really nice and she has plans for it that I'm sure will make her very successful. One of the strangest things at the flea market is that the guy next to her has a card that says, "Antiques and Cribbage" and he spends the day trying to recruit people to play cribbage with him. Ethan and I both played against him this afternoon. He beat me miserably but Ethan won one out of two games against him. I plan to go back next week and try my luck again.

Debra and Julianna came over this afternoon to visit and play with Esme. Esme is fascinated by older children and really seemed to enjoy playing with Julianna.

Of course this evening we had to play Golf! We only played one game but I narrowly beat Kyle and Ethan. Ethan just put some cookies in the oven and soon I'll be enjoying one with a glass of milk.

a nice evening - Stephanie and Charles & Roxanne

My good friend Stephanie was on vacation earlier this week and even though it was a short time I really missed her! I was so glad I got to see her tonight for a brief shopping trip.

Later Charles and Roxanne arrived at our house and we spent a nice evening together. Kyle taught them how to play Golf and then proceeded to beat us all! Roxanne gave him a run for his money early in the game but fell behind later.

This is only our second time seeing Roxanne and we like her. She's very nice and doesn't take any guff from Charles! She's also quite interesting and we enjoy talking to her.

Esme at the yard sales.

Esme & I went out to some yard sales this morning while Jenny slept in. Esme had fun watching all the people but it wore her out. Now she is busy not taking a nap.

I love this photo of Esme. It was taken at the Wadsworth Atheneum on Mother's Day this year. She was so interested in this fountain! I just love how little she looks in it, and it reminds me how amazing it is that babies are born not knowing how to do anything, and in such a short time they can even learn to stand. Esme just amazes me! Posted by Hello

Ethan, Kyle, and Tim are making tacos!

"the boys club" members are all at our house tonight, spending an evening together. After tacos Kyle is going to teach us to play a game that's big in Michigan called Euchre.

Hurricane Esme

Esme has been crawling around the house furiously and now she is exhausted. Hopefully she will be able to take a nap and be refreshed when Jenny comes home. Still rainy out there so we're staying in today. A good night for playing cards.

Esme sleeps in again

I guess I bring out the lazy in Esme because she slept in again until after nine. We were thinking about going to a couple of yard sales this morning but it's raining, maybe later. Esmo looks ready for a nap already. Is she saving her energy to grow or something?

A nice day with Esme

Today I had the day off from work and took care of Esme. She took pity on me and slept in. We went over to the park with Kyle and went to my Mom's in the evening.

One of my students drew this for me today. She said, "This is for you Mrs. Powers! It's a great white shark!" (unrelated to anything we'd been doing all day - it was funny) Posted by Hello

I taught 2nd grade today.

I had an okay class. Of course there are always 1 or 2 disruptive students but overall today went pretty well. I learning a lot more about what works effectively as rewards and what they don't want to get as consequences, so that makes it easier. Tomorrow I'm teaching high school for the very first time, and my subject will be Social Studies.

I had been putting off scrapbooking this photos for a long time because I love them so much and wanted the page to be perfect. I just did it the other day and I'm really happy with the results. Posted by Hello

Kyle is back!

Ethan's best friend Kyle is back in town and staying with us for a short time! He arrived in MA late last night and arrived at our home a few minutes ago. We are so happy to see him! I'm sure we're in for a fun filled evening of Golf (the card game.)

It's official - I have my Bachelor's Degree!

Although I knew I was graduating 5/23, I got my letter from ECSU today saying I had officially finished my degree. I am so excited about to have it finally done! I can pick up my actual diploma in 8 weeks.

Esme is having trouble napping today by Jenny

The last fews days Esme has had increasing trouble getting to sleep at both nap and bedtime. Even though she is tired this afternoon she is still fussing in her crib and not settling down. I hope this is only a phase!
